needle settings on a emak engine ?
« on: Nov 18, 2007, 01:34 PM »
i have an eskimo shark with an emak engine on it.does anyone know which way you turn the needles for setting the  low and high. which way do you turn the low for better idle and the high needle to get maximum power under load.

thanks.

assuming this is a two-stroke....  assuming the needles are accesible and or not covered by the e.p.a  crap.  lightly turn in both needles till they stop... back each one out 1 1/2 turns.  this should get the unit started.  let engine warm for a mintue or so.... make sure choke is off before any adjustments are made.   the needle closest to engine is the idle fuel mixture,  the other is the high speed fuel mixture.  at idle   slowly turn idle screw clockwise  (closing) until engine starts to bog.  stop and back out the other way until engine bogs.   you want it set in the middle.  the other screw on top of carb will be the idle speed screw.  they should be set just before the clutch engages.  as for the high speed mixture screw,  follow same steps.   sometime you will sacrifice some top end rpm in order to get instant throttle responce.    just set it up the way you like.   good luck
