If the fishing is faster she does know what it means when the float goes down. In warmer water when I catch fish right over the side of the pier, and fishing is faster, she definitely keeps an eye on the float!

looks like a nice dog,,,,   just remember though  it would be a good idea  to bring
a blanket or a piece of carpet out for the fella to lay on, especially when they are out there for hours,, your dog would appreciate that.. Rick

like that monster perch you have there,, I have one on the wall about that size 17 inches

I do bring one out but most of the time she doesn't want to use it. That day it was quite warm and I could tell she wasn't cold.

I can't really get her to come into the pop up shanty though. She doesn't like it in there! Got her to lay on a blanket in the shanty but she hated being in there with me. Could have been when this three pound brook trout stuck his head out of the water and clacked his jaws a couple of years ago looking for pellets in my trout pond. The dog freaked and almost knocked the shanty down. You can see in the pic I went into the house and got some pellets.

I recently switched from spring bobbers to the floats because I was missing too many big perch. Seems they need just a little extra time and just pulling down the spring bobber wasn't enough time. I also need a split shot to get the minnow down (on a bare hook produces best) and that along with the action of the minnow gives false bites with the spring bobber. I also have an affection for slip bobber rigs. Those foam bobbers you can make as sensitive as you want by breaking off foam.
