Lost My Best Friend Today
« on: Feb 20, 2007, 12:28 PM »
Today is a sad day for me. My fishing partner of 21 years lost his battle with cancer and passed away today in the hospital. He was not able to fish for about the last year do to his cancer and all the treatment. I fished with Bucket that is his nickmane on local creeks and rivers and the frozen lakes and ponds of North East Pa. Fished on the beaches of New Jersey , Cape Cod, Marthies Vinyard and so many other place. I will carry these memories with me forever.

I feel your pain, icesled.  1/30/03 I lost my best friend and fishing partner, my brother Rocky, to a snowmobile accident.  There's not a day goes by that I don't think of him and the times we could be having today.  I had his two boys, 8 and 11, out on the ice last Sunday and they are making him proud.  Keep Bucket in your heart and you won't be alone.  God bless.

Sorry for the loss of a dear friend and great fisherman. I'm sure he was a wonderful gent given your attention to his passing. Keep the chin up, and remember to call out his name everytime you leave one of his favorite lakes. :(

I agree, go and fish in his memory. I had a friend kill himself and it hurt a lot of people around here. The following day a bunch of us skipped school and took off work and went coyote hunting because he was really into hound hunting. My prayers are with you and Bucket's family
The fishing is always great, the catching however, always isn't

It's always sad to loose a friend.  He will always be in your thoughts, even if you are not totally aware of it.  You may even have feelings that he is right
there with you as you fish.  You may even use a lure or a jig without knowing why and have good results.  He may unknowingly be fishing with you, not in person but in spirit.  Remember all the memories the two of you had together.

While you are mourning the loss of your friend Bucket, others are rejoicing to meet him behind the veil.
Keep the faith Pal. Look around us in this world today and know, he is in a much better place. He will ALWAYS be with you on the ice and be drawing 'the big one' to your tilt! Here's to Bucket! May he rest in peace. My personal condolences to you and his family.

Sorry about your loss.  My fishing buddy is fighting prostate cancer.  Remember the good days--Bucket wouldn't have it otherwise.
