Day one.
Friday Jan 19th.
My uncle and I decided to try some afternoon fishing. When we got to the lake, there was no way we could make it through the snow banks.
Now what
We tried an alternate lake, and still couldn't find a place to drive out, so decide to walk.
In the end it payed off and my uncle landed 2 nice pike.
They were 22.5 inches at 3.25 lbs {top} and 24 inches at 4 lbs {bottom}.
Day 2:
Sat. Jan. 20th
My partners and I head out to try the lake we couldn't get on yesterday, this time with a snowmachine.
As it turns out the added weight of the snowmachine in the back was all that was needed to make it through the large drift.
We fish for most of the afternoon and see 8 pike on the camera but only have 2 of them lightly mouth the lures.
Finally as the sun set I got a solid strike. I fought the fish to the ice and discovered he had spun in the line and hog tied his mouth shut.
This fish was 21 inches long and 2lbs.
Fifteen minutes later I land a second pike.
This fish is 26 inches and 5.1 lbs.
The weather today was not bad with a light breeze and temps in the -9 to -14 deg C range. Not bad for this time of year.
