i was not expecting to catch anyting but when I got up at 5 o'clock to check the fire ant i looked out the window and saw a little red light flashing. I ran outside and to the pond and i ended up catching a nice 9" bullhead. My first fish of the year. ;D ;D :D

an hour and a half i would drive that for ice right now if you'd be willing to tell me a body of water... Or even a general area I have no problem finding my own places to fish but at the same time driving 2 or 3 hours one way and finding no ice would really suck. I am also in cassadaga. the foot of snow is likely to be 2 or 3 by sunday not looking to good out this far  west. I just need ice  :'(

its all good   did get me excited though i have a fairly busy weekend if not for that i would drive the 6 hours without a doubt...  2 or 3 hr drive i could swing   but 12 hours round trip eats up a day would mean no sleep and i might miss my patriots show payton the exit once again .   ;)

Small waters like that can hold some good potential, especially for fun. Theres a golf course by me that I seine in the summer for crayfish. The ponds with fish yielded a 13'' perch, plenty of bullheads, the bass pond would be fun, as last summer it yielded a 3lb bass, everal about 16''. Its loaded with 8" bluegills too. The bass and gills were cought hook and line, then released. The perch and bullheads were seined and released.

On rivers, small boatslips cannot be overlooked. One time on the mowhawk, I cought perch, sunnies, and crappie in a very small and narrow boat slip. the depth was about 2'. lets just say that for such small waters, it was the best I've ever done , even compared to the days on champlain.

Retired , but still recovering ice fishing addict.
