« on: Jan 15, 2007, 06:43 PM »
Was just wondering how things were looking up the Theresa way?  I heard its been cold, hopefully making ice.  Keep us posted, we will be up there friday night and we are hoping to hit a small lake or two.  Gotta get on some hardwater!!!!

Currently 14* here in theresa, stopped precipitating about noon today. Tomorrow it is supposed to be very cold, high of 15 and low of -3, and it is not going to break above 32 for a while now so hopefully this weekend will be safe

Let me know when and where you are planning to fish, I may have to pop in on you and meet a fellow IS member.

Is there a lot of snow up there?  Enough to use snowmobiles?

Not much, a few inches. Last night we got a very light cover and under that is a inch of ice from all the freezing rain. Thats it...

Spencey..be skeptical of what TI Bait says the ice conditions are.  They were posting that Guffins bay had 1-2 inches of ice yesterday, I was at Guffins yesterday afternoon and there was barely a half inch of ice, so my assumption would be that they might be exagerrating the actual amounts, would hate to see anybody drive up from down south hoping to have safe ice.....

That little bit of snow on the ice has really slowed down the ice getting thicker.  I saw a report about Black Lake stating there was 4 inches of ice where there was no snow, and in places that had the snow insulating the ice there was 1 3/4 inches.....Chippewa, Gosse, Eel bays and lake of the Isles are big bodies of water and subject to high winds, and we've had 10-25 mph winds since last night....Esox
