Northwest Wisconsin Lakes
« on: Jan 08, 2007, 11:20 AM »
I am looking for somewhere to go this upcoming weekend.  How are things around the Turtle Lake area?
Has anyone been doing well on Tainter Lake and is it safe enough on there anymore?
I do not care what I am fishing for.  I just need to get out.
  Thanks

Looks like a post from a Democrat to me.................... .............. ;D ;)

Seems to me that Hwy 64 is the line for good ice.  Not saying that there isn't any south of 64 just that most of the good ice appears to be north of it.  Just did some pike fishing in Taylor County last weekend.  Lots of flags but they worked like walleye, soft bites and slow runs for the most part.  Good luck Birtzer!!!

There is good ice on the lakes around Bloomer.  The fishing has been pretty good as well.  Good Luck!!!

Fished Lower Turtle last Friday and had 8" of good ice, should be making a lot of ice this week.   Also should good ice in the Eau claire area by this weekend, it was getting a little shaky on certain lakes around Eau Claire.  Altoona has been good fishing but you have to be careful where you go, a shack dropped in this last weekend.  They were lucky that it got hung up on the ice and they were able to winch it out.

I live in Osseo and there's good ice in town. At Lake Eau Claire there's pretty good ice, but a shanty has been slowly falling through the last couple days, but that's right on the channel in a bad spot with shaky weather, but the main lake should be good.
The fishing is always great, the catching however, always isn't
