I haven't. I ran over and checked the ice on Gene's Pond this Sunday and it wasn't thick enough for my comfort levels. There wasn't anyone on it either. Anyone else find safe ice anywhere?

There have been guys out on lake Antoine, usually 50 to 75 yards from shore. 2 to 4 inches of ice, I hear. Not quite what I'm willing to walk on because of the occasional 2" thick areas.

Any news on the Fortune Lake chain, or Chicagon lake between Crystal Falls and Iron River? I fished those two lakes 15-25 years ago and always caught good bluegill / perch during the summers. Chicagon had nice pike and a few muskies as well.

I spent the last 2 days fishing up there. Little Shag, Bass Lake, Engman Lake are all good. Look up Marty at the Gwinn Bait and Tackle. He is very helpful.

Please make sure you guys all use extra caution though after the warm weather and all the rain we got yesterday. This week sure isnt looking good for the ice. I know I gotta get my permanent off my honey hole today. Tight Lines!

The rain and warm weather did a good number on the ice in Escanaba. We are back to strictly foot traffic on the Bay. Shorelines are terrible and most of the ice is actually gone. On some small lakes I fish in Menominee and Dickonson county the same results are happening. I heard some that stayed firm , but a lot are back to about 3-5 inches with the shorelines really weak or gone. I had to use planks to get on to a lake yesterday and then I fell through in about 3 feet of water 25 yards off the shore. So use extreme caution.. .I am done untill we get some colder weather

Jigomatic, Big Shag Lake also has had decent ice. Just ask someone where the springs are located first, but they are mostly visible. Lots of pike, but nothing big.
