East Grand Lake Fishing
« on: Jan 03, 2024, 03:21 PM »
Hey guys,

I’m up ice fishing at East Grand Lake (3 1/2 inches of black ice in the northern end for anyone wondering) and i’m very much struggling to catch fish. Been up for 2 days and have done nothing but mark a couple and set some shiners free.

Does anyone have any tips or good spots for this place? What depths / structures to fish, what bait to use, or just what to look for? Im up by Halfmoon Island at a buddys house. I’m looking for mainly whitefish and lake trout but will honestly just settle for putting a fish on the ice.

Thanks guys

I wouldn't be out there with 3 1/2 inches of ice, that's for sure.  Be careful.

X2. Very dangerous lake when it comes to ice.

Hopefully you float devices on, and a plan/gear if someone goes through.  I've always had better luck using smelts or beat up suckers on bottom.  Also, I've caught a lot of togue in various lakes 10-12' below the ice
