Fresh water Shrimp
« on: Dec 29, 2023, 07:18 PM »
How are they doing in Moosehead? are there any  other lakes in Maine with Freshwater shrimp. Wonder if the state has taken a PH reading on many northern lakes ? and wonder if PH has risen in any of those lakes in the last couple of years??

I know that back in day Danforth hauled them into parmacheene with oxen  but I've never seen them not to say not there though

Good question  to  ask  a biologist.
If you fish the wrong lure long and hard enough it will eventually become the right lure!

I feel the water problem is the PH and lakes should be improving  as phosprous amount flowing into water shed from decaying wood products  should be getting lower, if all the wood slash could have been burnt back along in winter times when the heavy cutting was going on it would have helped water quailitynow a lot more. Ive read that Yellow perch growth improves a lot in lakes that have freshwater shrimp , after all my years throwing yellow perch back and feeding to Eagles  I found out what a great fish they are to eat , It would be nice if they had more feed to eat, They run so small and every one throws back small fish which is a mistake as the population is so large each Female lays 23,000 eggs , we should Fillet them all  or feed eagles!!!! a small perch filleted gives us more meat than a Scallop ??
