Sled wax
« on: Nov 27, 2023, 04:17 PM »
I've been using an Eskimo inferno one man flip over shelter for many years but not the bottom is getting really scratched up. Does anyone have any recommendations for wax to use on it?

Agree with the runner kit. If you are pulling by hand I highly recommend building a “Smitty sled”. Cannot tell you how much easier it is to pull a load. Lots of how to threads on here.

Seems like the Smitty sled requires a lot of tie downs.  What about putting a sled on the smitty sled.  Tie down the plastic sled and throw  the crap in that sled.  I like the idea of the smitty sled.

It is two cam buckle straps pretty EZPZ ...but attaching a sled to a Smitty Sled will work ...but being able to break down a  Smitty Sled is one of its best features .

I rarely use any tie downs. The rubber on the Smitty cross members keeps the sled firmly in place. Only use a couple of elastic cords if it’s very windy to keep stuff from blowing out of the sled.

I've experimented with quite a few combinations here, but commented only a bit.  I find the hyfax protects the bottom but if ur pulling by hand in snow, will kill ya.  You need the smitty sled if pulling a distance or a four wheeler or snowmobile.  I'm in ohio where hand pulling seems best, so my 2 cents.  Not starting a fight.

I will say I've tried the coffee table lifts and don't recommend them now after a few seasons....

Tie downs are more than adequate IF you are on flat ground ALL the time. If you have to  traverse ANY uneven ground, expect a yard sale if you use straps, ratchet straps or any other device to tie down with. I got tired of picking sh!t up all the time and permanently affixed my sled to the smitty.
