East Grand First Timer
« on: Mar 03, 2023, 06:19 PM »
Looking to fish East Grand for the first time and really looking for advice for lake access, specifically from the north. Also general areas on the lake to target or avoid for safety reasons. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

You can access the "main" part of the lake at Butterfield Landing in Weston.

Whitehorse Reef can be hard to see at night.

I heard there was open water on Hayes point on the Canadian side....fairly typical for this time of year

Not ice fishing of course, but staying up there for a week in late May.  Staying at Rideouts.  Hoping to get into the salmon and smallies.

Was up there last weekend. We stayed at Greenland cove. 18+ inches of ice with 6 inches of snow on top, no slush. We caught salmon in 20 ft of water just under the ice. Also caught salmon targeting brook trout in 6 FOW.
Caught a nice togue by putting a dead sucker on bottom.
If you're setting near bottom for togue and keep getting flags with only 2 or 3 feet of line taken out, it's probably white fish.
Fishing relaxes me. It's like yoga, except I get to kill something.
