Minnesota winter movies.
« on: Nov 26, 2006, 12:16 AM »
Today when I woke up, I watched 2 hours of ice fishing shows on TV. Then, tonight before bed, I watched Grumpy Old Men, and then A Simple Plan. Both really good Minnesota winter movies. Alot of Hollywood in A Simple Plan, but it's still a good movie. Point is, I have the itch now, and being 55+ degrees outside isn't helping, I wanna get out on the lakes!!

i hear ya, i guess you watched the one of the guys on tobin?  geez, those are some monster pike.  i definitely got the itch, too.  although, did ya notice that none of the pike really thrashed or anything when they pulled em up?  i think alot of those shows are really staged.  oh well, still nice to see some big pike!  anyways, definitely grumpy old men. didn't care for the second one too much, 1st was great!

Always wear clean underwear, cuz ya never know when the paramedics are gonna have to cut your pants off.

Fargo?  There's no Fargo in Minnesota.

The Grumpy old Men Videos were great, but I may have to go with Iron Will.  I liked that Untaimed Heart movie too, but I was young and had a crush on Marisa Tomei.  Now that she lost her chance with me, the movie kind of sucks

Yeah the only scene in Fargo not in Minnesota is the hotel scene when the dad gets busted. Don't forget about the Mighty Ducks movies, hey, for kids movies the first one I thought was pretty good, the second one OK, then I quit after that. Hollywood I guess likes out winters here, Purple Rain is the only one I can think of filmed here when it wasn't in the dead of winter.

Anyone ever seen Milwaukee, Minnesota? I haven't, but from what I have read online, it is an ice fishing movie, might have to check it out, I guess.

The fishing is always great, the catching however, always isn't

Keep it up!  The other day I thought the TV was broke, because the screen was just black.  Turned out I was watching an Alaskan winter movie!
 ;D
Fargo is about as good of a reflextion on Minnesota as Northern Exposure was a reflection of Alaska.

When do they have these? What all goes on? Loved both movies. May go in and fire up the ice fishing one.

The mighty ducks 1st was a pretty accurate picture of the hockey crazy culture especially in the metro area, and I agree with MN_burbot on the Marissa Tomei movie- no good if she's not available!   Iron Will and the GOM movies are good also.
I think Team MN should shoot their own movie, it'd be "a classic".
