Went out this morning found some sketchy ice that probably won't hold up well after the snow. 3 trucks in the lot. A big spread right out front so I head down a good amount of space past the last trap and start to set up. A guy that got there about the same time as me followed me out and set up 10 feet from my first trap. Whatever.... Keep moving on down the line away from the people. Got one brown and a dink perch. And I'm done with that spot......

It's tough but you know I manage. Chasing stockies is better than the honey do list and day drinking and smoking cigars at the cigar bar across the street from my house

Hawkeye and I will be chasing waterfowl one last weekend before we switch over.  Our new pup Phin has been making great strides this year.

I’ve been struggling too. Fairly new to it though. Once things ice over do you all suspend your traps or keep them close to the bottom? I know it depends on where you’re fishing but does anyone throw some shiner traps out while you’re fishing for the day?

Big northern pike love stocked trout. Out here our Fish and Game gill netted a 48 inch fish collecting walleye broodstock that spit up a 20 inch rainbow.

Can you put a dead trout on a tip up?  Even dead ones will work as northerns are know to be scavengers.

No you can’t and we don’t have them in 98% of the state

Trout work by the way, they work real well...I had a friend that would use em.
