Burbot
« on: Feb 15, 2022, 02:41 PM »
Does anyone have any experience catching burbot in Mississquoi Bay? We are headed up this weekend to do some pike fishing in the Donaldson Point area, and I hear burbot move shallow at night in the winter. Would they travel that far away from the deeper areas of the lake? Thanks!

I’ve been fishing up there for 40 years and have never caught one through the ice or in summer. I have caught lots of bowfin in the summer but never a burbot.
My Biggest worry is that when I'm dead and gone, my wife will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.

Tight lines and be safe.

I’ve caught them off tabors through the ice.

X 10 for Willoughby, never seen a cusk (burbot) on Champlain, plenty of bowfin(mudfish) though. Maybe confusing the two?

The new state record was caught this past weekend during the Champlain Islands derby from what I hear.
