How deep are the perch

Just trying to get a rough idea how deep for fish for perch now. Have not targeted them in years. Taking the grand kids out tomorrow was gonna try jigs and crappie minnows. Worked a few years ago.

Kinda depends on the lake

The later the season gets, the big girls begin to move shallow.

3 weeks ago we were in 35’
2 weeks about 28-30
Last Friday was 22-24’ in basin type areas.
So we have been chasing them shallower than most. When we find a new group shallower it’s been mostly males with a few big girls mixed in. The bigger females seem more isolated and roaming alone. The males seem to roll in in schools. If on dinks, just move. Some times not far. The other afternoon we were in 26’ and just an occasional 8-9” fish. I moved 20 yds and bam! 22’ and in 5 minutes we both put 5 good ones on the ice. Super aggressive.
And 10-12”. Late afternoon has been our best bite and it’s done 45 min before dark.
But depths are relative to the lake, but yes they seem to be moving towards spawning areas.

Nice job on the perch!  I tell myself every winter that I am going to chase them, but every winter I stick to the gills.
