Anyone on here fish Anchor Bay???.....Everytime I have been there it seems like a mini city on the ice...Just wondering if any of you Bay Fishermen are on here???

never fished it personally, but they get good perch out there, a few walleyes, and some crappie. Its mostly a perch hole

Id be willing to try it one time, wait till the guys are back monday, I know a theyve mentioned it before, so theyll know more than me, and are probably closer

when theres ice im out there..it can have its days..ive been skunked and ive limited out...its a ton of fun though..ive only ever gotten perch.. a few panfish and a few pike but its definitly a perch spot.

This pretty much sums it up, but it's real local for me. It's mainly just a big party w/ snowmobile races etc. It is an incredible pike spearing area though if your into that sort of thing. Mostly sandy and only 3-5 feet of water, perfect for pike. But they've seen everything! Perch are thick, but you'll have to sort for sure, lot's of dinks. Canals are hot for early ice crappies then cool to mid winter gills = more sorting. You were right on about metro beach as well Tommy, but I rarely go that far. I think I'd rather hit those Oakland co. lakes cause I know there's 'eyes over there and because the pike are easier to catch, though a tad smaller. I'd like to maybe check out Stony creek one of these years as well, if theres ever any ice!

Hey thanks I appreciate it....and yea i think the biggest perch i caught last year was 9"...its not really LOCAL for me...but its one of the closer places that I know of...

The bay is real close, but I know what you mean. If it wasn't for that, next closest place for me would be, what, Stony I guess. Maybe Sag bay for you. We've got allot of water, but most of it doesn't freeze, WTH?

Yea I know...It sucks....Hell I could see what I can pull up outta the black river...lol....but yea...the closest place worth fishing prolly would be saginaw bay...but no matter where I go its just nice to get out there and fish...just hopefully the weather is better than last year...

We'll "pool" out to the West side this year, get my 2nd and your 1st 'eye on ice and have a blast doing it! Of course we'll get skunked along the way as well, but at least we'll be fishing!

PS, I would love to see what would come out of the black during the winter!

keep an eye out too, i'm lucky enough to drive right by the bay everyday. i'll be posting ice reports as well. (more like how many nuts are out at any given time)

Yeah, when I go with a large group that is. When it's less people, my father in-law has a place on one of the canals a little West of the DNR launch. Right off the "point" that you can see from the launch.

oh all right....2 years back before i was ice fishin me and a buddy took our quads/sleds down there and it was sooo packed we actually had to pay to park on the ice...it was a bit ridiculous...

Really it's because I don't know what I'm doing. It's time to dust of the old gear. But I spent many hours as a kid in the early to mid seventies catching gills and perch with my dad pike spearing.
