Hit it yesterday, was 3.5" off headquarters about 10am.
Didn't measure when I got off at dark.
Few of us straight south of island.
Could see handful of shanties across lake off patrol road.

I'd be pretty wary. I bet the edges are soft, or junk. I live about 15mi from it, and it was 40° Wednesday afternoon, and 44 yesterday here.

Just a couple of forty degree days with little to no precipitation. I would think it would be fine. Obviously bring a spud and your spikes

It rained Wednesday and most of this morning.

*edited* Was thinking Tuesday for the rain for some reason, it was Wednesday.

It was 37° when I came home from work earlier. Looked at a couple ponds on my way. Main sheets still look good, but a bit of water around the edges. Didn't have my chisel with me to have a poke at it, though.

I'm on a small pond about 8 miles from WS. Edges do have some soft spots, but last night firmed it up enough to get on. No standing water, gills are biting.

Miss chasing tip-up flags on Bass. Wanted to try this year but there are health problems that need attending. Hopefully, NEXT YEAR I will get back to walleye fishing. Soft water has been really tuff the past few years. Guess I am just getting OLD.

May want to rethink that, I heard there is a ice derby there today, if thats true tomorrow would probably be tough bite but its a big lake im sure youd find something. Going off the back would probably be your best bet if you do go.

I second that Al -- I hope you and your family are well.  You are not getting old.  You are just more seasoned and gaining wisdom.  Remember, if you are not fishing today, the fish in the lake are just getting bigger and can't wait to see you.  Enjoy the day...

Thanks fellas. I need both shoulders, both knees and a wrist worked on. Left shoulder first. Looking at about 1 year rehab for that 1. Hope to put the others off. Been getting the steroid shots for about 10 years. Recently left shoulder needed more help. Went to cardiologist for stress test and he wants me in for angiogram because there were some irregularities. Hope I don't need stents. One thing at a time.

Al,
I had 2 stents five years apart, 15 years ago, then triple by-pass Aug. 2nd. Recovering quite well but haven't been on ice yet. Did 8 week of rehab and have been walking at Mall trying to get legs in shape. Amazing what they can do these days.
Good luck to you!
