I am thinking about building my next hard shack starting with metal stud framing. Just looking for the regular pluses and minuses. Any advice is appreciated and pictures even more so. Thanks.

I have a friend that was involved in building a metal stud shack last winter, we are flying together this morning to check on some outpost cabins, I will ask him about thoughts on the build and get back to you.

I did talk with Barry about the metal studs yesterday, he is supposed to send me pictures. I'm heading out to an outpost cabin today and will not be back for 2-3 days, by then I should have the pictures and I will get back with you.

My friend Barry helped with the build, he said the steels studs were good to work with as long as you have the right equipment for cutting and bending. They used the heavier gauge studs, built it on a aluminum frame and used steel sheets for the sides and roof. The floor cavity and sidewalls were foamed. Barry thought in the end that there was not much weight savings.
These were all of the pictures that Barry had showing some of the structure before foam, I will get a hold of the owner and see if he took any pictures during the build.

Looks great. A bit more classy than I am thinking but same basic idea. I appreciate the information and your time.
