Can 8.5" kdrill blades bolt onto a 7.5"?
« on: Dec 29, 2020, 05:09 PM »
Wondering if anyone knows if the bolt pattern is the same? I just realized they made that size a few weeks ago, and was looking for a less expensive way than spending the $250, I already have the 7.5".

They look the same the bolts are the same. Here is a link just to compare, $5.oo different in price. Both sets, however, claim to be Former 8" size.

kinda hoping kdrill would give us "fake 8"" drill buyers a discount on the drill we all thought we were buying. not sure why it was ok for them to advertise at 8" when was 7.5. now seeing my buddies 8.5" hole next to my 7.5" ticks me off :'(

If the blades cut a hole larger in diameter than the auger you may have problems with it wobbling and not cleaning the chips out of the hole

Thanks for the input. I'm going to try to contact them, but figured they wouldn't even tell me the truth because they prefer customers to spend the $250+ instead. I may just buy the 8.5" blades and see for myself. I think the 7.5" flight will remove the chips with no issues. Worst case scenario, I have a spare set of blades for my soon new setup lol.

Back when I had an 8" Ion, I always wanted to take 10" blades, then cut 1/2" off each one, to give me a 9" hole. I never got around to asking or trying it though.

I don't think this is an issue. 8" moras have 7" flights.

Betcha the 8.5" flights fit our old 7.5s... Lessee. There's 6 sections $36 plus another $45 for blades. And your in that far for $81 plus S/H.

Can't tell from the pic but that center point is almost certainly the same so that would be a plus. Gotta think the cutting head has to be larger on the 8.5 though. If you could wrangle one of those for around $50 I could justify the upgrade and have 2 augers albeit convertible.

If you could do it with just the blades I'd be all over that  ;)2
To fish or not to fish? That's a stupid question!

I actually got to speak to a human today over at Kdrill. He claimed the bolt centers are different, and the head is a different size, which was I knew on the head part that was obvious. I asked if I could just get the head and bolt it on my existing 7.5" flight, and he got all pissy saying everything is engineered precisely and I would burn out my electric drill lol. I somehow knew I would get some kind of answer like that, but I'll figure a way to modify it.
They are working there, and if you send them your blades for the free sharpening, it is approx a 3 week turnaround btw.
