Sandy point launch ramp
« on: Feb 15, 2020, 06:35 AM »
Hi guys, heading up that way on Wednesday and was looking for current conditions at the Sandy Point Launch ramp north of route 78. Wondering how much snow was on the ice and if they are driving out or taking wheelers, thanks.

Last I heard is that there was a large pressure crack that prevented anyone from going from Rt 78 to Campbell's bay. There was only one group fishing Campbell's during the derby, and they came from the campground. I heard the ice gap was a couple feet wide. That info was as of Thursday. I don't know about current conditions.
I hope they have improved!

2 weeks ago i went threw the preasure crack... there are 2 side to side the first one i broke threw the ice, and the other was almost 1-2 feet high ridge to jump.very scary feeling to cross. atv would on sunk, but i was on snowmobile, i had to floor it to get back up on the ice and jumped the other... not fun...i had to drive back ........ so i justed floored it and skim just over it ... but that was 2 weeks ago, with practicaly no snow on it .
maybe a different story now... with the snow and cold that hit us .   Be safe out there
.
