i was driving home from work, and heard this song on the radio...my vote for the official ice shanty theme song

I'm on DSL at home and waited forever for the song to load...buffered until it hit 46% and started playing...I really like the song, but my vote would be NO....if he said FishOn....it would get a YEAH....but its a PG site everyone....Grump

A good tune by Jonny Edwards Billy! Every Friday night when I'd drive home from work at 5:00 on the nose, that was the "signature" tune on KMTT out of Seattle WA. It was their way of kicking off the weekend. Every Friday @5:00...... Ahh the memories!

Didn't care if it was a reefer induced tune, it just started the weekend out on a good ol' folk beat.

A personal favorite to this day.

Only because it's a marijuana oriented song I would have to say no .
We don't want to give prospective members the wrong idea nor the parents of some of our younger members .

honestly i didnt take the track that way

when i heard it, just made me think of this place.....but i have final scratch ill remix it

Billy I don't think anyone is questioning your motive for that choice because it is a neat song . I think we all know by now you're not like that
The only thing that I think people are questioning is say a younger member gets on the site and mom or dad happens to hear the song .. are they going to question the motives or the people of the organization ?

i have always liked this song...not for what i think Jonathon Edwards means but for what it means to me. theme song ? probably not $:-\$ Dont want youngsters to think icefishing is all about partying , but it is about fun and whatever that translates into for you. Have fun!!

It's five oclock somewhere by Alan Jackson. Perfect fishing song. Listen to the words and you'll understand what I mean. More for summer fishing than ice fishing though.

I would have to say no as well. Not enough about ice fishing. needs to be all about icefishing!!! maybe telling a story. maybe my friend and I can write and record a song!

Cool...has a lil bit of a Cajun flair to it...course them boys don't have ice down there in the bayou, but believe me, if they had it, they'd find a way to get to the fish through it.

There's no question 'Shanty' is about getting high. It was very popular tune in the 70's. I liked it then and I still like it. Great harmonica.

But it IS a about getting high, not ice fishing.

Invariably...if we sit on the ice too long....someone strikes up a version of Julio Inglases' "to all the girls I've loved before". The lyrics can get vulgar if the fishing is poor.

It has nothing to do with icefishing but it is a great song that has been around for years. But when he says (lay around the shanty momma and put a good buzz on ) I imagine myself in my ice shanty throwing back a few cold beers. So to each his own!!

I find that on each trip, a dif song seems to be the 'theme' if you will,,,,for some reason, a song will get lodged in my head that has some significance to that trip. For example, on one trip, every time i would ask my young nepher to get me a minnow, he'd reply, 'you want a real wild one?'....so bingo..'Wild One' was the song of the day....By having many 'theme songs' from different trips, when i hear that song on the radio, it brings back some unique memories from a given trip. I really dont like the term 'theme songs'....isnt that sort of '70's-ish??
