On Sat morning we had 6 inches but this weather has been rough.  There have been large areas where water keeps pooling in the middle of the lake even in the coldest temps.

It is likely that foot traffic is safe everywhere but I am going to bring my spud with me.

6 inches on the north end I assume?

I'm not saying they're biting on Brant.  But they probably are

No it was 6 inches in several places that I checked south of the island.   I was surprised.    We had 5 inches on Dec. 26.   When I checked again on New Years I turned around before drilling a hole.   The lake had layers of water and ice and when I used the spud the water quickly gushed up.   It wasn't good.

On Saturday morning I could hit it  plenty before the spud chipped through.   Then I brought out the Auger and we had 6 inches every where I tried.   I do not know what Sat.'s and Sun's storm did to the ice, but I think we are good to go on foot come this Saturday.

As I said I have observed some places that water was coming up through the ice and I wonder if they are safe spots or not.

One Trout is better than no Trout! You didn't by any chance fish at the state park did you? I'm looking to assess the ice status there for a Monday AM trip.  Thank you.

I fished within eye sight of there ...across the way.

I was on 40 fow with 5 inches of absolute perfect ice

looked like there were guys out that did come on from the state park.

I'm sure you'll be more than fine.  I think we're gonna try again Monday too

be safe

good luck

Last weekend we had 7 inches.  This snow is heavy.  We shall see in the morning.

The kicker is tomorrow night it is going to go bellow zero but with the snow it is wasted cold.....

Hopefully the fish are biting. Bad conditions are okay if there is good fishing.

Did anybody happen to get out on Bomo this weekend, possibly at the state park? Wondering how the ice/walking is.  Thank you.

I wasn't on bomo, but 10 miles south on St. C the walking was pretty easy.

Parts of Bomoseen were very slushy Sat. but still manageable.

I did notice two places that water was coming up through holes in the ice.  The diameter was around four inches.  If that kept up it could make soft spots in the ice.

I am bringing my spud out on Sat. Just Incase.
