I have hunting property on a small lake south of Evart. I checked the ice five days ago and there was about one to two inches of soft ice. I have seen guys out fishing on the northeast end of Chippewa lake. I'll be checking again this Saturday. This latest cold snap should make some fishable ice until the warm front comes in. 40's are forecast for a week starting this weekend.

Fished Crooked Lake, in Lake Station, Clare County, this morning.  Only one 10" crappie cooperated, but there was 5" of ice.  Fished out to 15 fow, ice thickness did not vary.  Good luck to all going out!
