Yes. Unless you are in really deep snow and your shanty is close to the level of the snow on top of the Smitty. And yes, it can get heavy moving it on and off if moving often.
It's basically the only thing keeping me from getting a flipover, I wish there were more options that were strictly windblock style.

Make your own wind block. I made this one cheap, out of an old canopy and tarp, I had laying around. I can put it on and take it off my jet sled in under five minute.
