With all this rain we got the past few day's the lakes are full and ready to freeze. Come on MOTHER, bless us with a freekin cold winter this year.

This past winter was horrible it's scary when days in May were colder than January. Lets hope for a good cold winter this year.

I want enough cold to get me out on foot by Thanksgiving, on wheeler by mid December, and in my truck by New Years.
Any colder than this is a waste. I love winter, but I could sure live without -40F.

Well, other than checking in here..........the last 36 hours has been spent preparing for the mighty Susquehanna to crest sometime early AM on Thurs. Sleep will be so nice

I feel safe, the neighbors are all taken care of, the johnboat is tied to the roof.................. . >:(with freash gas........

The river has been kept at bay

, now it's just a matter of waiting for the water to drop, so I can put on the hipboots and try to net all the carp out of the yard before they die. Talk about a stinky mess

Wilkes Barre, PA got the worst of it for sure. In Harrisburg it crested 2.5' above flood stage, but really didn't do much damage. Just some flooded basements for a few. It definately will screw up the river fishing scene for a while.

I just heard on the news of how some kids decided to go outside an throw firecrackers at each other. This happened in Florida. A firecracker went down a back pants pocket of one of these party animals and not only gave him a good kick in the butt, but he ran two blocks before they could catch him to put out the fire. We live a pretty dull life up here in Maine because we would never think of celebrating the fourth like that.

Same thing in Maine, just sparklers and 12ga. Why we can't have fireworks in Maine.

1. Booze and fireworks are New Hampshire main export and it would hurt their economy. Good combo though!
2. Maine's government feels that they can't trust their taxpayers with thing that blow other things up.
3. The forest service is afraid of fire even though it's rained 21 days last month.

4. Maine is afraid that if we had the freedom to use our own head they would lose control and the we would be independent.
