Otter LED Light kit mod
« on: Mar 08, 2019, 04:50 PM »
Does anyone know how I could mod the Otter LED light kit so I can plug it into the USB port on my ridgid power source?

Isn’t a USB port only 5V?  The Otter lights are 12V.  I run mine from the 12V plug in on the Milwaukee Power Source, not the usb.

The only way to make that work would be to use a step-up power converter, but when you step up the voltage to get 12 volts for the lights you will also be increasing the amperage draw from the USB port by approximately 2 1/2 times greater. Depending on the size of the LED lights it could happen that the USB port will not have enough power to run everything.

Any one have any idea how many amps these Otter Led lights draw?
What colour are you using?
