New Water Decision (Honeoye, Sodus, Cayuga)
« on: Feb 07, 2019, 05:38 PM »
This weekend I think I am going to get out and try to visit some new water that I haven't explored either in the open or ice season.   I'm looking at Honeoye, probably the north end, Cayuga either by the state park or on the east shore opposite and somewhere up on Sodus.

Blind as a bat with only the information from some fishing books and some details from the various boards on iceshanty....anybody have a recommendation?

Pretty much looking to not go swimming and to hook into something whether it is a handful of dink perch or one toothy critter.  Appreciate the perspective from anyone who has been out to the various places.

Not looking good for any of them at this point.  It's still above freezing near buffalo and the wind is howling like a banshee.  Might need to find a small well protected lake for Saturday and hope for the best.  Thanks for the feedback.

All three are still on my list...

I'm in the Sodus area and the ice there has held up as far as I know. snowmobiles were still out as of yesterday. if the ice holds up I may be interested in sharing a spot or 2 for the same on your home water. can even set up a type of guide deal cuz I need to get back out. pm me if your interested. and yes there are still perch in Sodus bay. all sizes.

Beenperchin,
I was going to say the same thing. I thought about heading to Chaumont or Onieda, but I think I'm going to hit Sodus Sunday! BlueSnow you are more than welcome to join me if you're interested. Don't know much about the bay but you got to put in some time to find them.

Sodus is where I plan on going next weekend, but due my truck being in the shop :(, I'll be going to the Buffalo small boat harbor this coming Monday.
Are there any motels near Sodus?  I may want to stay a couple days next weekend.
Any references would be appreciated. 😁

Trapper - sometimes it's more about hanging out and meeting some new people.

There are motels in the area but my suggestion is the bay bridge bait shop has rooms. Cant believe I recommend them cuz I dont go there (preference) for bait or tackle.

Looks like the weekend is going in odd ways for me.  Heading to Braddock Bay tomorrow (most likely).

Two weeks I'm back in town and might try to hit up the other lakes!
