Question about a Jiffy stealth 2hp
« on: Mar 22, 2006, 07:16 AM »
I am new to this board and am impressed with all the information and knowledge that is out there.  I purchased my first ice auger recently.  It was new last year and used to drill about 20 holes.  The unit starts fine but I noticed that initiallly the blade turns slowly at idle even after I rev it up a few times.  Is this normal?  I have not drilled any holes with it yet but will this weekend.  Thanks to those who respond.
I fish not because I regard fishing as so terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant - and not nearly as much fun.  Robert Tarver "Anatomy of a fisherman"

This is very normal, as long as the bit is not spinning really fast its perfectly fine. The reason your auger is doing this is because your auger is new and your clutch plates are not broken in yet. Once you drill a lot of holes the clutch pads will get wore a bit and it will not spin at idle.                JM 8)
