Are the glory days of fishing on Red Lake over?

4-5 years ago I can remember being out on Red Lake in a February cold front and hauling them through the ice one after another. We had mostly 20-30 fish days. It seems the last 2-3 years I have been out there the fishing has been slow, even under good conditions. 7-8 walleye/day seems to be about average. Most fish quit hitting the rattle reels at night. It could be that strong walleye class from 2011 is getting educated and less cooperative. The bite just doesn't seem the same out there, maybe I was just spoiled before.
Anyone else starting to feel the same way?

Yea, it's not as easy fishing as a few years ago. We just came back from a day trip and it was the lousiest Ive done there.
There is a lot more pressure too though. On the small part of upper we are allowed on there are houses everywhere coming and going and until LOW and other big bodies freeze over its the biggest game in town for a month or so. Not saying it's a bad thing by any means, just the way it is. I think the numbers have just caught up with the glut of walleye after the crappie boom.

I agree it still isn't a bad spot. I'm sure I will be back but I just need to keep my expectations in check.
