So I am not a hard core fisherman by any stretch, in fact I usually only ice fish a few weekends a year.
This is partially because of my work schedule and that I live just outside of Vancouver.
I started ice fishing with my wife's great uncle back in 1991, he lived up in 70 mile, he was a great guy and we fished the Big Bar lake derby every year, and I always 3 or 4 weekends fishing with him every winter.
Henry passed away earlier this year, and I have sort of been bummed out at the thought of heading out ice fishing this year without him.
Today while talking to my one sister in law she mentioned that my nephew started fishing a couple of years ago, but wasn't that successful.
So I asked him if he was interested in ice fishing (he is 20), turns out he loves fall and winter camping (he is going camping for the first 3 days of the New Year), and he really wants to try ice fishing.
So tomorrow I am going to pick up some new tackle and possibly a Garmin striker 4 (never owned a flasher or fish finder), and set a weekend for us to go
