First Ice 2018

Curious when you think will be the first time you are on the ice this year?  I am getting the itch pretty bad. 

Personally, I am hoping to get out on Red Lake mid November (I was last year so fingers crossed!)

if the signs continue I think we should be on ice by the Saturday after Thanksgiving. things I have noticed that indicate a early fall and winter are that the oak trees are dropping their acorns already, the nights are getting cooler and so are some of the days, the birds are starting flock up in large groups. if we are not on the ice by then I would say my second guess would be by mid December. I feel we are about 2 to 4 weeks ahead of where we should normally be for this time of the year.

I can guarantee you I will be on the ice when the water freezes.  It happens every year.

I'll be out as soon as all my deer tags are filled or weekend after 3rd weekend of rifle season ends. Whichever comes first.

If I can walk on here by Christmas down here I'm satisfied (sort of). Up north usually a couple of weeks earlier. At least since Al invented Global Warming. Used to be able to take stuff up deer hunting before Thanksgiving and expect to use it.
