A few pics from my midweek expedition
« on: Feb 24, 2018, 05:35 PM »
Made it out for 2 full days in a row this week. Still Lots if ice but be aware of drain holes.  Targeting WP mostly on jigs and a few on traps. I was generous to the fish only kept  a few. Good times. Action wasnt crazy but didnt get skunked and explored new waters all on foot. Walking was easy. I haven't made much use of tip ups this year. Jigging has been good to me. Waxies and dillies helped too. Good luck out there.

Nice fish! It’s always great when you can explore new water and not get skunked.

Nice job Wayne... way to find them and get into them.

I was up that way on Thursday as well... went out of 19 mile bay. Ice was solid (drilled over 20 inches) but as you said - there were some big drain holes and anything near structure (rocks etc) was open water. I did see a couple of vehicles out there...  but not something I would recommend.

Walking was easy and I put in over 2.5 miles trying to find the whites... never found them but managed a laker and some small yellow perch. Next time...
