Maranacook lake Winthrop
« on: Jan 20, 2018, 06:34 AM »
Would like to fish this lake for togue or salmon on the lower basin. Have found a decent point. How's the fishing there for both species. Noticed togue have not been stocked for awhile and natural reproduction is relied on. Salmon were stocked a few years ago.

Togue fishing used to be good there 10-15 years ago. The salmon fishery has really taken off tho.

Spot on.  So much for the fast togue days of yesteryear, Nick. ;)  Still a few good ones.  But there are multi-year classes of salmon and some nice browns.

Fished Maranacook today caught 1 togue 3lbs and a pile of white perch.
I fish the Winthrop end pretty hard and seams to be much harder to catch good togue than it used to be.

I’m heading to Lake Maranacook Next weekend and hope to jig for some yellow perch and white perch. Does anyone have any suggestions as to hotspot for perch on the Lake? I am staying on the northern end.

Are there some good spots for perch on the southern end, too? Any advice would be very helpful.

Love to jig......Perchhunter

Hello icemanzak,
Did you jig for the white perch? Have you had any luck on the northern end? I am willing to travel to the Southern end too. Are there some good spots for a Perch Hunter?
Thanks in advance, Perch hunter

Readfield end of maranacook is good for perch. Easy access at the boat launch on 41. Good luck.
