I don't know about "quafs" but I saw a snowmobile on Lake of the Woods this evening.

I fished it Friday and it was all ice.  That being said would not have wanted to try and cross through the center.

How much snow on the ice out that way?  I’m from lake county and assume there is more than we have around here. Thanks.

It had about 3" snow on it Monday, we were on 5" ice out toward long point but ice varies. It probably has quite a bit more snow on it now as they've been getting some lake effect.

Yes we have at least 5" on it.  Pulling a Shanty or sled is a bit of work.  I am eager for enough ice to pull it behind a machine.

Any thoughts on the shoreline? I know the only place to public Park is the launch on the southwest side. I'm wondering if there's good ice just 20 feet out from sure that we could run machines around the shoreline North out to Long Point? Can always hoof it from there it's just a matter of getting out there since you can't park anywhere near.

Can a guy park at the beach, Bay, and the newer launch that's supposed to be on the east side?

Did some walking out there yesterday wishing we had a machine. Had ice thicknesses from 5”-9”.

To answer my own question:

It was 5 inches in the skinniest spot and up to 8 inches.  All was real good black ice.  There were a couple of machines out.  I'd feel comfortable anywhere within 1/2 mile of the launch.  Remember, there is no such thing as "safe ice".  Proceed with caution.

I was there this evening on my bike out about 1/2 mile SE of the ramp and the ice had water under the snow but the ice was 6" - 10" in just a small area. Fishing wasnt very good for us, only one walleye was caught jigging. Nothing on tip ups with shinners. We came off around 10PM and the ice was popping and banging like crazy. Im hoping to go back Monday evening.

I rode out to long point yesterday on my 4 wheeler. Never drilled less than 9" of clear ice.

How did you end up doing out there on Long Point? Always wanted to try out there but making that walk is more than I want to do on foot!!!

I walked your tracks this morning almost to long point. Lots of activity all morning but only 4 keeps and a dozen throwbacks. Too windy to move after we got setup... so it was what it was.

How much snow did they end up with on the ice? Looking at a tuesday trip but don't want 6 inchs of water from the snow melt. lol
Any comments on the ice for tuesday would be great.

Caught several small perch, brought home 3. 2 were only 10" and one being 13". Buddies first fish through the ice was the jumbo. I was surprised at how little snow there was. Only 3" in drifts and less everywhere else. I have been trying to find the walleye, but have yet to do so.

I started to long point sat but turned around and fished s.e. of the ramp. I plan on being there tomorrow. If you see a camo 4wheeler its probably me. If you catch me at the ramp I'll give you a ride.

Walleye fished Maxi this afternoon, I missed two, one jigging and one on a tip up but my fishing partner gave me lessons. He hooked up right after he got there, then caught another one and lost a couple. Bite was early. Nice to see you again Jim. Im sure we will meet up sometime again this season. Mike

Good to see you Mike, Thank You for the ride in last night!
Strange bite yesterday. Set up in 11' of water and as quick as I dropped a rap had a walleye, shortly after dead stick goes off,  got another...couple hours goes by, sun fades and nothing.
I should be out this weekend with the quad
Jim
