Pike

Looking for suggestions on where to go for pike in the Central VT area besides Lake Elmore. I’m also open to Champlain, but don’t know where to start with that place. Thanks!

If you are ok with low numbers but a chance at BIG pike, marshfield res is a good spot. I have fished it a bunch, and only ever caught one pike, but I brought a buddy there last winter out by the island and we pulled in a 41 incher, and a week later someone else landed a 38 incher.

If you don’t mind a bit of a ride north on 89 head up to Missisquoi Bay. Huge parking lot at boat launch. Head north out of launch. Lots of pike and bait shop just down the road. Not sure of current ice conditions.

Used to be a great trout, walleye and perch fishery.
State dropped the ball on this place.

They would get big in there with all of the perch, smelt and trout to eat, but VT already has a lot of pike water. It'd be nice to see a walleye and trout comeback there.
May the fish be with you.

I think that if they were in there, we would hear about it from more people and it would be common knowledge by now.  I'm not saying there isn't, but I won't worry until I hear it from several sources or see a picture.

I think that F&G should react rapidly in cases of introduced species like pike by removing length and creel limits for that species in that specific body of water as soon as they're discovered. It wouldn't eliminate the problem, but it could be an effective tool in controlling how fast the problem grows. I have a favorite trout pond way out in the woods where somehow, some bonehead put pickerel a decade or so ago. They exploded fairly quickly, but I and a couple of other people have very specifically targeted them, and as a result they are only a few now. While finding the above bonehead and tossing him/her in the klink would be nice, taking out as many pickerel from the pond as possible certainly helps keep it a nice trout pond, and not just another hole with small pickerel in it.

For the record: the pickerel are being fried and eaten: I don't waste fish.
May the fish be with you.

I thought that master page was confirmed as a mistake/misprint last year? Other than rbobby's post I have not heard of any pike being caught in the Waterbury Rez hard or soft water. Can anyone else confirm any pike taken there? Can anyone confirm rbobby's catch/claim or was the pot just being stirred?
