South Bay is my go to spot until Lake George is ready. With this weather, it won't be long, probably before new year.

The north side of the Rt.22 bridge is completely frozen over.  The south side of the bridge has a lot of open water and some ice that broke up and refroze.  High winds today didn't help.

The South Bay Boat Launch parking lot is not plowed (we got about ten inches of snow yesterday).

Tight lines,
Bob

I fished it yesterday (12/18) by the boat launch; my first time out for the season "shake down tour."  There was four inches of clear ice with an inch of white ice on top.  I didn't venture out much farther than 100 yards or so from the launch ramp.  I caught a couple of small perch and a pumpkinseed early in the morning and headed home when the wind came up.

Today, it's 37* already at 10:30 am with warm temps in the forecast for the next couple of days.  BE CAREFUL if you decide to  give it a try.

Tight lines,
Bob

I forgot to mention that the boat launch parking area is not plowed.  If you don't have a 4WD truck or AWD car with good tires, I wouldn't try parking there.  There is some parking along the old bridge/fishing pier.

Tight lines,
Bob

Thanks for the update Bob I think I will hold off a bit until after the next batch of cold weather just wouldn't trust it after this warm weather and rain.  :(

You're welcome, gentlemen.

It was about 40* all day yesterday and it also stayed above freezing all night.  I don't know how much ice was lost...     The cold weather tonight and tomorrow should replace it if the forecast is correct.

Stay safe,
Bob

How’s the ice situation? I got posted in the wrong direction for work, can’t swing by to check myself.

Yesterday, fish307 reported 4" on South Bay. I may be there on Saturday. I'm just hoping there's not too much snow.

The Drag wasn't too bad probably 2" of snow. The wind did a great job of blowing it off...

The boat launch was plowed...

People started putting permanent shanties out...

Anyone ever get the cats through the ice on a regular basis there?  Sure is plenty in the summertime.

I’ve seen many cats come out of there through the ice
I'm not saying they're biting on Brant.  But they probably are
