I went home this past weekend and had to drive from the northern adk's to central new york, lots of lakes on the way, 95% of the shanty's that i saw were either blowing down the ice or tipped over. also something happening on lake pleasant, snowmobile through the ice near the inlet or something. bad weekend all around on the ice i guess.

The old wind can be nasty!  Years ago myself and several buddies were fishing Ft Peck Mt. A storm came in The temp went from about 40 to -20 the wind was blow gusts to sixty mph. before we could get our canvas houses down away they went. Thank god we had our pickups on the ice to get into. The wind was blowing so hard at times it almost felt like the pick would move. no snow cover. The next day we went looking for houses, most of them went about six miles caught on a huge pressure ridge crumpled up messes.

I guess you know it's windy when you lay your auger down and it starts blowing away down the ice..happened to me before.   :o

Sorry to here that bluefin.  I was surprised and happy to find that mine had weathered the storm.  it had blown of the blocks it was propped up on but it was still upright.
