Placid Area Help
« on: Feb 13, 2006, 09:25 AM »
Hey Guys!

Venturing out to the ADK's for my first time in Mid-March.  We'll be headed down from NH and are staying in Lake Placid.  I was looking for some help on a good place to go for pike or walleye, within a short dirve of the Placid area.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Franklin Falls...some eyes in there and good pike fishin.  About 20 mins from placid...also try Lower Saranac Lake, theres some nice pike in there.

Iceholes,
You only have till March 15th.  The season closes on pike and walleyes after that.  Just in case you didn't know.

OK, since I will be there 3/16, looks like Pike and Walleye are out of the picture!
Whats my best bet for some decent action around Placid. I'd be interested in finding some bass and pickerel or a good trout spot.

Thanks!

Send me a PM if you want some info on the Saranac Lake area!

Most everything is closed after the 15th, including bass and pickerel.  Perch and sunfish would be your only bets.

Well, bass is closed anyway...but you do bring the occasional largemouth or smallmouth through the hole...On year-round trout lakes, you'll still be able to fish for trout and salmon.
