Buel
« on: Jan 10, 2017, 12:58 PM »
Shakedown trip at Buel this morning. 8" ice 100yds straight off of the launch. Perch caught in 13-15 feet of water. Real slow fishing! No trout on tip ups.

Dale,

PM me if you want a better spot for trout... I frequent Buel year round and know the lake inside and out.

Trout hate that area despite it being where they stock...I would top if I were one...big predators in that neck of the lake...

Someday when I get energetic I will hike down to the south end. Have done well trolling there in the spring. Today I found out what what I need to fix for the rest of the season, and what I forgot to bring!!

Hey how you guys doing? Saw your post and was wondering how you think the ice will be there this week coming up? I see it's supposed to rain and warm so wondering what you guys think before I make the trip up. Thanks

I'm not touching that ice.  I know the place inside and out and the launch gets real shot with runoff.  Trout can be caught in numbers on certain days other days it's slow.  The pike eat a lot of them!

Just wouldn't be my first pick for trout in the berks, and I agree, the launch area can get real bad real fast.  I have not gone there yet this year though and not sure how much ice they were working with.

Haven't braved the buel access yet. Be careful. Go high for trout in deeper water. Caught a pike before with a stocked rainbow still alive half way down its throat and it was on a 9 inch dead pondy so it was a hungry fish. I want to get out there soon. Will report ice thickness if/when I get out.

I'm not messing with it...bring a plank and be very wary of rotting/candlestick ice...
