I don't know where Duck Lake is, but we have ice in the Tupper Lake area of the Adirondacks.

never heard of Duck Lake, but there's plenty of decent fishing right on the border...Goose Bay, Lake of the isles, Chippewa bay, etc...and some of the inland lakes as well, Black, etc...

go to   tibait.com and check the ice fishing report, it'll give you a decent idea.....use their info as a guideline, we've had a lot of warm weather and some of the ice isn't that good, but it's been cold all week and is forecast to stay cold through month end.....

Duck Lake is barely conidered a Lake its more like a big pond. It's about 25 miles north of Owasco Lake, in Conquest, NY. There is hardly any ice down here.

Yeah the state record crappie came from Duck Lake. I've fished it before, and have heard my fair share of stories, but every crappie i've heard of/ caught wasn't any bigger than 7 inches. Yeah you may get really and i mean REALLY lucky and find another monster, but I doubt it. Nothing in there really gets any size to it. The only thing in there worth mentioning, are the bass and they're only 1-3 lbs. Not a lake i would pick first........or second.......or third. Maybe a place to take your kids for the experience.
