Typical illinois winter weather

I told the wife we were moving our winter home way up north so we could have more hardwater days. That went over like a lead balloon!  Haha! What is everyones opinion on this brief warmup as far as the ice conditions go?

Absolutely stinks! That rain on Christmas is going to do some damage. I had high hopes after being out on the ice before Christmas too.

I'm not worried the nice thing is it will get the snow off of the ice so at night it will make ice better if we were going to get like 1-2 inches of rain then I would be worried but with teens at night we'll be fine

Not to worry. First day of winter was the 21st. Lot of winter left.

5.5 inches of good clear solid ice with a half inch of slush on top from melting snow today in knox county. We need cold cold weather. I will be checking the condition of the ice regularly throughout the warm up to see how it deteriorates. I hope it gets back to winter soon.

got 3" by shore and 5" off the end of neighbors dock in manteno. fair amount of water around the edges.

4 good inches with an inch or so of refrozen and water on top. edges are completely shot, avoid.
