How does flora carbon compare to other type of lines for "biting through" ?

For pike I think you could use rope, those toothy critters don't care about visible line ;D...I just use the tip up line direct to a 6" wire leader with a red #4 treble.  For walleye I connect about 2ft of 10# mono to my tip up line with a barrel swivel, I use a smaller size #8 or #10 treble.  Just my 2 cents.

I use either a thin rope similar to what you'd use to line off a construction job or lay a straight course of block, or just regular beaver dam line with a steel leader and #12 swedish hook.

I have always used tip up line with a 20lb mono leader. Pike have never been my target. I usually set tip ups and panfish, if i get a pike cool, if not no big deal. I decided last winter that im going to try and target big pike and am now putting some more thought into my set ups. Just looking for opinions on what people are using.

I still use braided wire, ( old school, but old school has worked for years). Not looking for an argument, but we have a party of 6 guys who go tip up fishing, so we can put 18 traps out. I made9 wire, 9 floro. after 2 weekends of fishing, the numbers were very close . no bite through  but with floro/ mono, you have to check your leader after each hit to see if it has nicks It is not worth it to me. 20 lb. for Mi. is prolly all I will ever need, good luck by the way , if you are setting traps for panners, you will never need 20 lb. and might get more fish with lighter tackle, good luck

Not set for panfish,  just set them for pike while panfishing. Have caught nice size perch on tip ups, mainly on muskegon lake

I typically set up for walleye, so its 20 lbd fluorocarbon for leader. that way I can change up presentation's.  such as different hooks blades beads.

Ive used both floro leaders of 15 or 20 lb as well as steel leaders.  I feel I get more flags on the floro.  I may lose a few to bites offs occasionally but I'd rather see the flag go up!
