Stony Lake, New Era
« on: Nov 20, 2016, 11:21 AM »
Im looking at a Stony Lake in New Era. Its located off S. Scenic Drive and W. Stony Lake Road. I see the last post about a possible similar lake is from 2012. Does anyone know anything about this lake? I would like to try it this year, if we get ice.
Thanks for any info

stoney lake is linked to lake Michigan by a shallow channel.
it receives salmon.steelhead and brown trout runs.
there is a little of everything in this lake.
'its a tremendous crappie fishery in the spring.
never heard of anyone ice fishing it but don't see why not.
we bowfish it  a lot in the spring.

I just down the road on M20 and would like to get out there to try fishing it this winter. I fished it a little in the summer from the kayak, but not on the ice. Lemme know if you ever want to venture out!

I've had some good trips for gills & perch hard water fishing stony but not last year-ice was punk. I've done the best off the county park ramp but dont drive down the hill to the lake in the winter!!!
