Marquette area
« on: Mar 16, 2016, 03:50 PM »
I think i know the answer to this but wanted to ask anyhow. I may need to go to Marquette this coming weekend. Is there any fishable ice in the area still or is it all in bad shape? Thanks.

Gwinn and republic have a few places with good ice still. Spring fed lakes, large lakes, and lakes with current from rivers should be avoided. Bring a spud and ice picks and watch out for others holes.

You can fish the mouth of the Carp River or off the break wall too.  I've been taking my canoe out on the bubblers and getting some nice coho (outlets for the power plant.)  I just have to pick and choose when to go because of the wind/waves!

you can't ice fish at any of those places, it's all open water.

I didn't say ice fish but casting from shore is definitely a possibility!!!  Just giving alternatives!
