The ol' fillet knife got another workout tonight

We had a bunch of company this morning, but wanted to hit the ice after lunch.  Went to a very close by pond, but one I have only fished once or twice.  With some great location advice from a fellow shanty member, we had an excellent afternoon!  2 hours of fishing landed 3 bass and about 30 yellow perch-it was so good fishing, my wife even grabbed the jig rod for a couple fish.  We brought home 2 bass and all of the perch that were over 12" (about 20) to fillet










She is getting good at catching, I can't wait until she is old enough to learn to fillet!!

Let's just say I'll be smoking most of my fish from now on!  Amazing. I just lightly salted both sides, fresh cracked pepper on one side and Apple smoked about 2 hours. Absolutely wonderful. That's the only reason I kept so many perch today. So I can smoke more!

There is one picture of my wife in their. She is rather young, but the rest are my daughter. Haha.y wife always comes out just doesn't usually fish. My daughter is my real fishing partner

What temp do you smoke the fish at?? Sounds tasty might have to try this.

I've only done it twice now, so still working out what works best, but the first time I did about 100 degrees for a little over an hour, then turned it up to about 225 for a little over an hour.  The second time I ran it at about 150-175 for a couple hours.  I think I liked the first run a little better but still playing with it

I smoke with apple, but want to try some different smokes for sure

soak the filets in a brine first. Added flavor let air dry to form a pellicle and then smoke

I like that saying!!!!!!!  Just so long as its not my Blood .. Coming off he 7" of ice this afternoon it was easy to find places to push the Chisel tru with one push!! Think we lost an Inch of ice today!!!!!!!!!
