« on: Jan 31, 2016, 04:18 PM »
After another tip casualty on my St.croix rod yesterday i need it find a good hard sided rod case that can hole 6 rods. What do you guys use? Sending the rod back for repairs.

My post from another thread.....

I ordered this one right before Christmas. It was on sale for $60.00 at the time & got free two day shipping w/Prime. The description states it holds 8 ice rods, but I put 6 rods in it & it was a little to packed for my liking. I have 4 rods in it now which I feel much more comfortable with. I think it's a bit overkill size wise for me, but very happy with the style & protection it provides.

I think u are on the right track with that case. I have two different cases. One is a flambeau tactical rifle case (can hold 6 rods) and the other is an arrow case which holds 4 rods easily. I would shell out the money for an ice specific case when these types of cases accomplish the same thing.

I loved my otter rod locker, kept the rods and reels all nice and secure. Except from the scumbags that stole the while rod locker.

Will the Otter rod case accommodate spinning reels without breaking-down the handle?

It will,  I have 4 to 6 combos in my Otter rod box, most of the time.

Check out lake wood products ice rod cases.. pricy but might be worth it to you ... me I got 1 and 1.25 inch pvc to use for mine I cut to length and just stuff them inside it. And have a bungee cord hold it on at the reel ... make sure to make them long enough so the tip don't stick out if you go this route...
