Perch are on the menu
« on: Jan 30, 2016, 05:59 PM »
I was running low in the freezer.  And the weather promises to get snowy and cold.  So, I went to a reliable place.  Slayer had me thinking it had slowed down.  But, I was able to locate a school after cutting a dozen holes and searching around.  New auger blades make a world of difference.  About 13" of ice.

Once I found them, it took only an hour to fill the bread bag.  And not many dinks.  Home early to chop street and sidewalk ice for the neighbors.  Now how am I going to sharpen my dang spud bar?  I guess that is a topic for another thread.

I got my perch fix...it might be time to try for trout again.  :)

Thanks.  Rod holder is a Guardian, made in ND.  Bought a couple, years ago.  It stays attached to the rod while fishing - doesn't add much weight, adjustable angle.  At the end of the day, it comes apart and a small plastic holder piece stays strapped to the rod.  Dead stick rod never goes down a hole, doesn't tip over, sets up quick, and becomes flat when broken down.  Great. Better picture:

I had to call them to get a replacement one - hard to get otherwise:
