MyFishFinder.com Just like iceshanty but warmer
Just want to emphasize the point of checking ice yourself and not just taking someone's word for it.. A friend of mine fished a pond near me and reported there was 6" of good black ice. I went today to fish it and being the person I am I checked all around the pond myself so I was sure how much I'd be on and there was 2-3" in some spots and nothing over 4".. Sketchy for sure. I know some people who would've just run out there and started punching holes.. Could have been bad news for someone heavier than me (180lbs). Just a heads up! Tight lines!
Always good practice for sure! I like being only 180 as well, it's almost like walking on water
NEWFOUND CIRCUS, Guppy's pics caused me to ponder?I know you folks have your own shanty (demo) or rescue, whatever the case may be.Do you have "in house" vehicle recovery also?
as checking ice as you go and trusting your gut are important, knowing the body of water your on is a factor . things like current and springs will surprise you on how the ice will form. knowing your lake and the areas that have features like this help you stay safer early on.there's a fine line between being foolish and brave
We've had some vehicles go through the lake in the past. Quite a sight to see....vehicles mostly destroyed during the process. We do have a underwater / recovery diver locally and our FnG are trained in underwater rescue (heard some really sad ((thought provoking / disturbing)) stories which i won't go into, of some of the underwater body recoveries). We (Newfound Circus) have retrieved ATV's, Snowmobiles and People in the past that have gone through the ice. We do what we need to so we can get back to fishing as quickly as possible. Everyone plays a part when needed.
.. I think he was measuring in CM or something
