Lake Fenton is a go
But don't quote me on that. I have a drinking problem, I keep running out of beer. I've always been a little bit crazy, but its kept me from going insane.

Yahoo..............fin ally walked on hard water!  First time this year (and latest ever) hit the ice north of Milford.

Four inches of ice - think the rain we had on Friday did more good than harm.

Fished a lake I had never been on before, managed to find some gills and a crappie.  Kept enough for dinner tonight - cannot wait to taste those potato chip fillets.

Damn if feels good sitting here watching football....knowing I finally got to get my ice fishing jones on!

I fished Potter Lake in Genesee yesterday. Very questionable ice in spots. Got one perch. Slow bite. Spud blew through in one hit on the way back in. I'll be looking for a better spot next weekend.

Got these in Livingston County today and last night, 3 to 4 inches everywhere, except shore ice. I would try any of the known first ice spots you have access to. Many others fishing today as well.

Seeing open water on the same lake people are fishing on seems to really freak some people out. You see people out there fishing with their families at first ice and some might say thats a bad parent or they dont agree with them puting themselves and their kids at risk. I think thats being a good parent and teaching their kids the wonderful world of ice fishing. If you sat around and read reports and listened to the people on the news, you'd never do anything.

and bad report cause of that .. ya there is open water soft spots etc but that's what a spud is for ... went out Friday to a lake one guy was already on the other was just getting the gear out of the car and went walking on the ice with no spud... gave him a look like what are you thinking not taking your spud ... so I got out checked the ice with my spud and got back in the car to warm up....this is when I noticed the real dumb move the guy was pulling not using his spud walking as fast as possible to the spot  were they wanted to go with no spud... I wait till he got to his buddy to leave there is a throw rope and a ladder in the other parking lot..  I drove over to the other parking lot watching them closely ....   till he got to his buddy once he got there I left but still a very unsafe situation...wish more people were like you and me and would teach ice safety to there kids....

Lake 16 in lake Orion had shanties on it.  It seemed all the smaller inland lake had people of shanties on them.  I DID NOT see any quads or snowmobiles.  Safe fishing

LOBDELL DINKS :o  seen 2 guys coming off lob sat afternoon, stoped and talked to them..they said it was slow fishing with dinks and thin ice out by the island out of argentine. I went to fenton by the launch and it was slow. I was marking them and got them to chase jig but no keepers. Talked to the guys there and they say it's better in the am just after first light... :-\ :-\
